During their three years in the program, students teach courses in the English department and in the University Writing Program. For the first year, the appointment for incoming students will consist of mentored teaching (courses team-taught by two incoming graduate students and a senior graduate student) in the University Writing Program.
During the second and third years, students will teach 1 course per semester. In most cases, MFAs teach a combination of composition and professional writing and undergraduate creative writing workshops, depending upon departmental need. Other teaching opportunities may arise, including undergraduate literature and film courses in areas in which you have expertise and TAships for lecture courses taught by our faculty.
